MICRO believes that museums are an important source of trusted knowledge. But the impact of museums is currently limited.
Many are expensive, and geographically clustered. In New York City, Manhattan has 85 museums. The Bronx has 8. The impact museums have is demographically narrow: across America, 90% of museum visitors are white. [INSERT ONE SCIENCE EDU/MUSEUM STAT HERE.]
MICRO is a nonprofit committed to sharing science that can reach everyone. We build museums that can go everywhere. Our museums are site-tested, durable, and free. Nearly 700,000 outpatients pass through the doors of just one of the Brooklyn-based hospitals where MICRO is installing a museum in 2017.
Our partners are hospitals, transit hubs, developers and more: people and organizations who want to make a difference, and share the adventure of science with their community.
